Attention All Acting Students ... Sunday, June 7th at 2:00pm
The acting students of DAC will present the hilarious, off the wall The Stinky Cheeseman ... and Other Fairly
Stupid Tales, based on the popular book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith.
Take a wild ride with our narrator, Jack (of the Jack and the Beanstalk fame), as he navigated perilously through an
assortment of fractured fairy tales and unruly characters. These stories are ALMOST like the ones we know ... but
not quite. Have you ever heard of Chicken Licken or Little Red Running Shorts? How about a "goth"
Cinderella who meets Rumplestiltskin? You know the Princess and the Pea, but are you familiar with The Princess and
the Bowling Ball? These are just SOME of the "fairly stupid tales" that Jack and the others will bring to life on stage.
To be sure, younger audiences and younger actors love this play, but it is NOT written solely for them. Because of its
clever, sarcastic take on well known children's stories, and its modern-day spin (a supremely stupid giant who's also
a WWF wrestler), this play is popular among the older set as well. Given the fact these characters are larger than life
and so far removed from who we are physically and mentally, actors of any age will find it fun and challenging to explore
these wacked out people and their stories. The comedy in this piece is broad and "Vaudeville" like, requiring
precise timing along with vocal and physical energy. This means let loose and have a ball!!!!
